Installing A New Unlocked TCMUpdated 3 months ago

Follow these instructions to perform an ECM or TCM swap. This will copy critical data over from the stock TCM to the new one, it will not change the software or segment versions on the new TCM.

We will be referring to the TCM here but you will follow the same instructions to perform a TCM swap, just select ECM instead of TCM.

1) Connect VCM Scanner to the vehicle with the stock TCM installed

a. Go to “Vehicle Controls & Special Functions”

b. Click “Replace TCM” to start the function (located under System -> General)

c. Follow the prompts to complete the Replace TCM process for the stock TCM

2) When prompted, replace the stock TCM with the HP Tuners unlocked one

3) Connect VCM Scanner to the vehicle with the unlocked TCM installed

a. Go to “Vehicle Controls & Special Functions”

b. Click “Replace TCM” to start the function (located under System -> General)

c. Follow the prompts to complete the Replace TCM process for the unlocked TCM

4) Download the TCM read from the unlocked TCM and save an info log.

5) Send us the TCM read from the new unlocked TCM along with an info log.

***Depending on the software/segment version that is on the unlocked TCM the truck may have shifting issues with the unlocked TCM installed.  We suggest that you drive the truck (down the driveway or block will be enough) and if the truck shifts rough you will need to reinstall the factory TCM until you receive the TCM tune from us.  If the truck does not shift rough you can leave the unlocked TCM installed.***
